Useful Prayers for Owners, Developers, Investors & Lenders of Commercial Real Estate

Introduction:

Some of you who are reading this have confidence in prayer and will receive these below that are relevant to your situation as a source of strength and an opportunity to call upon God to help in your circumstance.  Others among you don’t believe in God and view praying as a waste of time.  America is a free country.  So you are entitled to your opinion.

However, there may be even a larger number among you who are just not sure or full of doubt if any of this praying will make a difference.  If in doubt, you have nothing to loose but everything to gain….or regain.  Peace be with each of you, your family and any investors, lenders, partners, advisors and employees who are surrounding you during these stressful times.

Please call me if I can be of help.

Prayer #1 -  “I Need Capital for My Business”

Lord, I’m so grateful that You have given me the courage to step outside my comfort zone and pursue this business.  I acknowledge that every witty idea or invention has come from You (Proverbs 8:12 KJV).

Now, Lord, I desperately need financial capital to take the business to another level.  The banks and other traditional funding sources have not been available; however, my eyes are on You alone-Jehovah-jireh, my provider (Genesis 22:14 KJV).  You are able to provide exceedingly and abundantly above all I can ask or even think (Ephesians 3:20).  Therefore, I ask that You send generous and Godly investors who understand that the purpose of wealth is to establish Your covenant on the earth (Deuteronomy 8:18) and will embrace the vision You have given me for this enterprise.  Help me be a wise and trustworthy steward of their finances.

Let me surround myself with and listen to the advise of seasoned business people because Your Word says that plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed (Proverbs 15:22 NIV).

Father, I pray that You will be glorified in all of my company’s policies and practices, and Your purpose will prevail in every decision.  In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Prayer #2 – “My Business Is on the Decline”

Father, You are my refuge and strength, a present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).  Everything I have belongs to You; I am simply the steward over this business.  Show Yourself strong, Lord, and turn this entity around.  Just as You told Your disciples in the fishing business to launch out into the deep to experience a great catch after they had toiled all night to no avail, give me a word of instruction that will yield net-breaking results (Luke 5:4-7).  Nothing is too hard for You (Jeremiah 32:27);  You are the God of every circumstance and situation.

Help me trust in You with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding.  In all my ways, I want to acknowledge You and allow You to direct my path.  Do not let me be wise in my own eyes (Proverbs 3:5-8).  Let me surround myself with wise counselors because plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed (Proverbs 15:22).  Reveal what adjustments I need to make in the company’s products, policies, or personnel in order to be successful.  Give me the courage to implement those adjustments without fear.

Most of all, Father, let Your Word always be the foundation upon which I operate this business. I commit to fairness, integrity, quality products, and good service as the trademarks of this enterprise.  Let Your name be glorified as the profits help to build Your kingdom and improve the quality of life for others.  In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen

Prayer #3 - Deliver Me from Debt

Lord, Your Word cautions that the rich rule the poor and the borrower is servant to the lender (Proverbs 22:7).  Forgive me for not heeding Your warning.  I am now a financial bondservant to several creditors.  I accept full responsibility for getting into this mess.  I confess that I failed to delay gratification of my desires, overspent, and disobeyed Your principles of good stewardship. I repent of all past irresponsible financial behavior.

Lord, I now need You to give me the courage to face my debts and take an honest look at where I stand financially.  Don’t let me be in denial about the level of indebtedness I have accumulated.  Let integrity guide my actions (Proverbs 11:3) as I commit to pay everyone whom I owe, including family and friends.

Lord, I do not want to be ignorant of Satan’s devices (2 Corinthians 2:11).  He is attempting to keep me in financial bondage-I’m paying exorbitant interest and unable to help finance Your work.

Please send a qualified person across my path to help me develop and stick to a debt-elimination strategy.  Help me stop making additional credit charges.  Deliver me from emotional spending.  Only You can make me whole. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

Prayer #4 – “I’m Thinking About Filing for Bankruptcy”

Lord, I am in a predicament because I cannot meet my financial obligations as they become due.  I realize that when I incurred these debts, I made an implied vow to repay them and, therefore, must now make every effort to keep my promise and pay what I owe.  Your Word declares that living on credit and not paying my debts is characteristic of the wicked for they borrow and do not repay (Psalm 37:21).

I do not want to use bankruptcy as a quick fix to avoid the responsibility of working through my debts.  Please grant me a miracle just a You did for the widow whom You enable to pay her deceased husband’s debts, thereby saving her sons from imprisonment by the creditors (2 Kings 4:1-7).  I know that my Christian witness is on the line because most people view bankruptcy as evidence of financial irresponsibility.  Help me make the radical and necessary lifestyle adjustments and commit to Your financial priorities.  Let me proceed in filing the bankruptcy petition only if this situation is truly due to circumstances beyond my control. Otherwise, I ask that You surround me with favor (Psalm 5:12) as I contact all of my creditors and negotiate a payout for my outstanding balances.  In the name of Jesus, I pray.  Amen.
